How could God forgive me?

We all know the feeling...you have done something bad, and you don't know how God could ever forgive you. You might have cheated on a huge test, lied to your parents, or stole something from a store; or maybe you have run so far away from God, and you wonder whether you even know Him anymore. But He does forgive us, and He wants us to bring all of our burdens, the things that we know are wrong but do them anyway, to Him. Colossians 1:13-14 says "For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Did you hear that? God has taken us out of the darkness of our lives and forgiven us! And He doesn't just say, "I will rescue the people who go to church every Sunday, or the people who have led Christ-like lives." No, He says He will rescue US, each and everyone of us. Isn't that great? Even if you have sinned so badly that you don't even know where to begin, God will help you if you trust in Him and call out to Him. He understands that we are human, that we aren't perfect, that we need His help and guidance. He understands that we all want to do things are own way, and when we figure out we DO need Him, He is always there for us. If you want to repent to God, you can do so through prayer. You don't need to use big fancy words, just tell God that you are so sorry for sinning and ask Him to forgive you. That doesn't mean you will stop sinning, nor does it mean that you can sin as much as you want because God will forgive you. We should always try to be as much like Christ as we can, but when we fail, God won't give up on us. He will forgive you and help you get back on your feet. Why? Because you are HIS! You are His child, and He loves you! So the next time you think, "How could God forgive someone like me?" remember this verse! Acts 13:38 says, "Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you."
